Lizzie is a humanist celebrant working in the Scottish Borders. She chose to have a six session package, scheduling one session a week for the duration of the package. Lizzie is also an active member of The Voice & Accent Hub and Voice Coach Podcast fan!
Before working with you I wasn’t at all confident about my voice. I was worried I didn’t have the breath to support it, especially in my new career as a Humanist Celebrant. Feedback from my mentor was that I needed to be able to be louder, especially if a ceremony is outdoors or if I’m speaking to a large gathering. I knew I suffered from vocal fatigue but not how to do anything about it. I was also worried that I didn’t have enough variety in my tone but didn’t know how to address that.
Working with you was the best investment I could have made. I had hoped to get some help with technique and see some general improvement, but what I didn’t realise is that I would have an incredible boost to having confidence in my voice. Your encouragement and support completely changed the way I hear my voice. Clearly, I miss our sessions, but it’s great to know you are there if I need a refresher or have a specific problem.
So many. Confidence in my ability, how to deal with nerves, the importance of warmups and what a difference they make, and how my whole body links in to the sounds that come out of my mouth. It was so much more than guided exercises, your knowledge is breath-taking (pun intended) and you have given me tools that I will have and use forever.
The craic, your positivity, enthusiasm and support. That you share all your expertise, that I felt you were always in my corner and that your teaching wasn’t a one size fits all thing – you genuinely helped me to dig deep and work on the areas that were specifically troubling.
