Voiceover Artist
Before starting, I had issues with even moderately long lines. My breath would fade towards the end and become soft and breathy. I have some breathing difficulties due to illness that really set me at a disadvantage for speaking professionally. Until now, I was fortunate to have good enough editing skills to compensate somewhat – but nothing ever really beats a great take. I was worried that I would never be able to progress any further with VO.
Far more confident in my voice, and in my ability to assess what my voice needs to be healthy and to remain in good condition. This confidence is obviously having an effect, as I’m suddenly getting a better response in auditions and winning jobs that I’m reasonably certain I wouldn’t have got before the course. I’ve gone from somebody who uses their voice for a profession, to feeling like a voice professional.
I was aware early in the course of the improvements that I was experiencing in my breathing and with my breath control. This was confirmed when, as part of my regular monitoring of my lung condition, my medical professionals informed me that for the first time in 8 years I had not only not seen a decrease in my TLV (Total Lung Volume), but I had in fact increased the volume by over 11%! This is solely attributable to the practices and knowledge that Nic has taught me on the Vocal Empowerment Programme.
Well, it really didn’t feel like learning at all! Every session was really enjoyable and productive without being too formal, and the support sessions were inclusive and helpful.
DO IT!! You will not regret it. Nic feeds you information without you even realising it’s happening! A teaching session with Nic is a genuine pleasure to take part in, and her own obvious passion and thirst for knowledge for everything voice is very infectious.
